The Nerstane Position in the Merino Stud Industry

Commercial breeders are dependent on the ram source for the majority of the genetic progress in their flocks.

The current production level and the effectiveness of the breeding program being used at the ram source are the driving forces of genetic progress.

For regular clients of a ram breeder the genetic response in the clients flock will be dictated by the genetic response been made in the ram breeding flock.

The National Wether Trial Bloodline Performance Graph below shows Nerstane’s dramatic genetic progress over the past eight years.

At Nerstane our aim is to improve our position in the Merino Stud industry therefore we must demonstrate our genetic progress as much as possible.

We have entered teams in wether trials and have encouraged our clients to participate also.

Nerstane has had a policy of being involved in the Australian Association of Stud Merino Breeders sire evaluation program since its inception.

The results we have achieved in these programs have enabled Nerstane to clearly demonstrate its high-ranking in the industry.
